A group of astronauts repairing the Hubble telescope finds , enjoying the wonderful views from Earth at that distance so close . Although his job is usually to remain locked in a tiny space in a space station, this is a rare occasion in which astronauts can exit the ship. Two of the astronauts are , Dr. Ryan Stone ( Sandra Bullock) , in its first foray into the space , and the veteran commander Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney ) , a man who has seen it all and noted for his optimism and sense of humor.
All seems well until a rain of space debris , consisting of pieces of satellites and space stations , the mission becomes an absolute nightmare. Dr. Stone is left to their fate , while turning on itself , moving out of control in the vastness of outer space . From now undertake a struggle for survival , trying to find a way to get to a Russian space station , and then to a Chinese , to see if any of them is the formula to return home.
